Dr Paul Ekman has dedicated his 40-year-long career doing research in the fields of communication, emotions and deception. He is considered one of the world’s top 100 most influential psychologists. He was the first person to scientifically demonstrate the seven universal emotional facial expressions (all humans express these emotions in exactly the same way). The expressions are: happiness, disgust, contempt, surprise, anger, sadness and fear.

He is the author of a number of scientific publications including 15 books, of which “Telling lies” and “Emotions revealed” are worth highlighting. He was scientific consultant on the FOX series “Lie to me.” His methodology is being used by Disney Pixar, The Department of National Security, Health Service, Apple and Emirates Airlines among others.

We perceive the presence of someone through the way they act and communicate, mainly because of the impact of their non-verbal communication.

Research teaches us that our brain makes continuous judgments. It decides in seconds if the person we are speaking to is competent and trustworthy based on non-verbal communication. People who possess this so-called executive presence are authentic and able to transmit this self-confidence. They transmit honesty, security, competence and self-control in any situation. This generates trust, which is necessary for any competent leader.

EMOTIONS AND FACIAL EXPRESSIONS:

[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=»single solid» hide_on_mobile=»small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility» class=»» id=»» sep_color=»#e2e3e8″ top_margin=»0″ bottom_margin=»35″ border_size=»2″ icon=»» icon_circle=»» icon_circle_color=»» width=»170px» alignment=»left» /][fusion_text columns=»» column_min_width=»» column_spacing=»» rule_style=»default» rule_size=»» rule_color=»» class=»» id=»»]

Micro expression are facial expressions that occur very rapidly. They can be observed for 1/25th of a second. They are involuntary and show the true emotions of a person. They can occur, as a result of a conscious suppression on the part of the person or they can be repressed unconsciously.

Every person shows micro expressions and nobody can hide them. Reading micro expressions is key for improving emotional awareness and the detection of deception. Learning to detect micro expressions will help you to detect hidden emotions, identify the different emotions that people experience, develop your capacity for empathy and a better understanding of other people and how to respond effectively in order to develop positive and constructive relations.

Public Speaking is the cause of much anxiety. Stage fright is normal and can even help to make your presentations more powerful, but on occasions, this excess of adrenal can paralyze you and become a problem.

Sinapsis-Lab has created a specific programme to help overcome this problem by means of  training using Virtual Reaity. This opportunity to practise in a real life scenario and make you live the situation in a training environment will help you to improve your emotional control and reactions in real life situations. The trainer will monitor the biological response of the participant in order to understand the reasons for these changes in reaction and to formulate an action plan.

The programme is individual and totally tailor made. Delivered by Dra. Catalina Pons.
